Summer Fun in Thurston County: Local Events and Personal Adventures

Hello, Thurston County friends!

Summer is in full swing, and thereโ€™s no better time to enjoy the vibrant local events happening around our beautiful community. We just pigged out (in the best way possible) at the Lacey South Sound BBQ Festival last weekend, and let me tell you, the smoky goodness was unreal. But there’s still so much summer fun to be had! Here’s my top picks for events happening right now and in the coming weeks:

Capital Lakefair

Another highlight of summer in Thurston County is Capital Lakefair. This event is a local favorite, offering everything from parades and fireworks to live entertainment and food vendors. Itโ€™s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the season. I always look forward to the fireworks show over Capitol Lakeโ€”it’s truly a sight to behold.

Olympia Farmers Market

For those who love fresh produce and handmade goods, the Olympia Farmers Market is a must-visit. Open year-round, it really comes to life in the summer. Strolling through the market, youโ€™ll find everything from locally grown fruits and vegetables to artisan crafts and delicious treats. Itโ€™s a great way to support local farmers and artisans while enjoying the best of what our region has to offer.

Tumwater Artesian Brewfest

If youโ€™re a craft beer enthusiast, you wonโ€™t want to miss the Tumwater Artesian Brewfest. Held every August, this event features a fantastic selection of local brews, food trucks, and live music. Itโ€™s a fun and relaxed way to spend a summer afternoon with friends, sampling some of the best beers in the area.

Thurston County Fair

No summer is complete without a visit to the Thurston County Fair. From carnival rides and games to livestock shows and live performances, thereโ€™s something for everyone to enjoy. Itโ€™s a wonderful tradition that brings the community together and creates lasting memories.

Personal Adventures

Beyond these fantastic events, summer is also a great time to explore the natural beauty of Thurston County. Whether itโ€™s hiking the trails at Tolmie State Park, kayaking on Capitol Lake, or simply enjoying a picnic at one of our many beautiful parks, thereโ€™s no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy. Iโ€™ve been taking advantage of the sunny weather to get out and explore, and I encourage you to do the same!

Join the Fun

These are just a few of the many incredible events and activities happening in Thurston County this summer. I love being part of such a vibrant and active community, and I hope to see you out and about enjoying all that our area has to offer. If you have any favorite summer events or activities, feel free to share them in the commentsโ€”Iโ€™d love to hear about your experiences!

Planning for a Home Inspection: What Every Thurston County Homebuyer Should Know

Buying a house is a big investment. It involves a lot of research, effort, and resources. Before you finalize the sale, it is important to inspect the property to ensure that it is in good condition and worth the investment. This is where a home inspection comes in. A home inspection is a non-invasive examination of a property’s condition. It typically covers the physical structure, foundation, plumbing, electrical systems, roof, and other major components. Whether you are a first-time homebuyer or have bought property before, planning for a home inspection is crucial. In this post, I will be discussing the key things every Thurston County homebuyer should know about home inspections, with the help of REALTOR Guy DuVall.

    1. Plan in Advance

The first thing you need to do is plan for the home inspection in advance. This will give you enough time to find the right inspector, review their credentials, and schedule the inspection. It is recommended to have the inspection scheduled as soon as possible to avoid any delays in the home buying process. Speak to your REALTOR Guy DuVall early on to ensure that you have enough time to plan.

    1. Hire a Qualified Home Inspector

The next step is to find a qualified home inspector. A qualified home inspector is someone who has the necessary experience, licenses, and certifications to carry out a successful inspection. You can find a list of qualified home inspectors in Thurston County through REALTOR Guy DuVall’s network. Make sure you do your research and check the inspector’s credentials before hiring them.

    1. Accompany the Inspector

It is recommended that you accompany the home inspector during the inspection. This will give you a better understanding of the property and any potential issues that may arise. You can also ask the inspector questions and get advice on how to fix any problems that are discovered during the inspection. Being present during the inspection can save you a lot of money and time in the long run.

    1. Review the Inspection Report

After the inspection is done, the inspector will provide you with a detailed report of their findings. This report will include any issues, concerns, or recommendations they have regarding the property. It is important to review the report thoroughly and understand what it means. Use this information to negotiate with the seller or make necessary repairs before finalizing the sale.

    1. Use the Inspection to Your Advantage

Finally, the home inspection can be used to your advantage. If the report reveals major issues with the property, you can walk away from the sale or negotiate a lower price with the seller. In some cases, the seller may agree to fix the issues before finalizing the sale. By taking the inspection seriously, you can save yourself a lot of headaches and money.

A home inspection is a critical component of the home-buying process. By planning for it in advance, hiring a qualified inspector, accompanying the inspector during the inspection, reviewing the report thoroughly, and using the inspection to your advantage, you can ensure that you are making a good investment and avoid any surprises down the road. Speak to REALTOR Guy DuVall today to learn more about planning for a home inspection and how to make the most out of it.
