Best Indoor Activities in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Nearby
Chilly, rainy days are part of life in the Pacific Northwest. Personally, I love starting mine with a hot mocha and an extra shot from Cutters Point. Sitting in the hot tub on a rainy evening isnโt bad either. But if youโre looking for more to do than sip and soak, here are some of my favorite places in Thurston County to stay dry, stay active, and still enjoy the day.
Whether you’re looking to entertain the kids, try something new, or unwind in a cozy spot, these indoor activities around Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater are local-approved and ready for your next rainy day.

1. Visit a Cozy Coffee Shop in Olympia or Lacey
When itโs drizzling outside, nothing beats a warm cup of coffee and a seat by the window. Whether you’re looking for strong espresso, cozy vibes, or a spot to catch up with friends, these local coffee shops are worth a visit.

- Dancing Goats Espresso Bar โ Right next to the Batdorf & Bronson roastery. You can smell the coffee roasting as you sip. Itโs a must for serious coffee lovers.
- Cutters Point Coffee โ This oneโs my personal go-to. When itโs chilly and gray, I grab a hot mocha with an extra shot and settle in. Their Lacey and Tumwater locations are local staples.
